Week of September 2
Students were welcomed back to school with an assembly. Mrs. Brinson read us Be You by: Peter H. Reynolds.
We were excited to be in the gym for the first time for Freedom Frenzie!
We are building our fluency skills by playing math games. These are games you can practise at home!
Ask us about how to play our favourite game:
Salute (multiplication or addition), Dare You Ten Thousand (place value), Kaiden's game (multiplication), 0-13 (number ordering).
We read The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson. Sometimes we feel like we’re different and alone. But when we have the courage to share our story, we can inspire others to connect with us and realize that we’re not alone after all.
We finished the week by learning the design process. We did a STEM challenge, "How to Build the Tallest Shoe Tower". The book Four Feet Two Sandals by: Karen Lynn Williams and Khadra Mohammed showed us creative problem solving and cooperation. Students realized that stacking 6 shoes and keeping them stable for 30 seconds was more difficult than it seemed.
