Some highlights from the week!
To honour the Autumnal Equinox, we walked to the storm pond to observe changes from summer to fall.
Our week was full of learning experiences related to Truth and Reconciliation. We had a virtual author's visit by Courtney Defriend and she read her book, “If Instead of a Person”.
We learned about the significance of eagle feathers. Each of us wrote a quality about ourselves on an eagle feather to celebrate our uniqueness while remembering those who went to Residential Schools.
We read, "I am Not a Number" by Kathy Kacer and "When We Were Alone" by David Robertson. Students reflected on how students felt at Residential School versus how students should feel at Northern Lights School. Each student wrote how students should feel at NLS on a piece of orange ribbon. We tied the ribbons on the fence with our grade 2 buddies. They also learned about Canada's response to the 94 calls to action on an outdoor gallery walk.
