Highlights:

Assessment Check-ins
  • Students completed a Social Studies Mapping check-in that they will be bringing home early next week to share with you
  • On Monday, students will be completing a math check-in on place value (the assessment was delayed to ensure students had solidified their understanding)
  • You can help them prepare by reviewing place value up to 10 million and decimal numbers to thousandths
  • This includes putting numbers in order and comparing them, as well as expressing them in standard, expanded and written form

 Friday, August 30 We had an awesome first week of school, the time went by fast!  Some highlights from the past two days were: Time capsules: We have been writing a letter to our future selves to read at the end of grade 5 and grade 12.  Students have been including details about their summer, their interests and goals for this year. Shipwrecked: To build leadership and resiliency, we played a game called Shipwrecked.  Students in 5D worked as a team to cross from one side of the soccer field to the other by only standing on 10 sit upons.  The students moved almost halfway across the field without touching the grass!  It was amazing to hear all of the words of encouragement and strategy. Math and Literacy: We eased back into learning by playing math and literacy games.
