Our Parent Fundraising Society will be selling t-shirts and hoodies this fall. This will be the only time this year they will be sold.  A flyer came home with details and the PDF is attached. CASINO FUNDRAISER WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

THANK YOU to all of the people that gave their time last weekend during the Casino Fundraiser. Each person that helped raised approximately $2500 so in total, we should receive approximately $75000, which is amazing! We will find out the official total raised in a few months. We will update you when we have more information. All of the students in our school will benefit from their gift of time.

APPLES

If you ordered apples, the delivery will be on Friday, October 25. 

There is no school for students that day, but you can pick your apples up by coming to the office on Friday between 2:00 - 4:00. A few of our parent volunteers will be at the school to help with handing them out on Friday afternoon.  


If you are unable to pick them up on Friday afternoon between 2:00-4:00, we will keep them here at the school for you to pick up on Monday any time between 9:15 - 4:30.

VOLUNTEERS


If you would like to volunteer in your child's classroom, or for any upcoming field trips, please fill out the Annual Volunteer Registration by logging into your MyCBE Parent Account and clicking on the gold icon that looks like this:


Once you fill in the form, we will complete the next step for you at the school.  (Don't forget to upload a proper 'selfie' of yourself holding your ID...it can't just be a picture of the ID itself, you must be holding it.)

All parents that volunteer must have both the Annual Volunteer Registration form filled out, as well as a current Police Information Check.  

If you need a Police Information Check, I can send you the letter you need after you fill in the Annual Volunteer Registration form. 

We look forward to having lots of parents or guardians in to help out this year!

Thank you to Avrie and Charles who are our photographers for two weeks.


We began our exploration about coordinates and the Cartesian Plane.




In preparation for Diwali, 5D made a class diya.  We passed the clay around the circle and formed the diya with the contribution of the whole class.  We fired the clay on Thursday and will paint the clay on Monday.  
 


We started our Earth Systems Science unit by exploring the climate zones in the world exploring the question, "Why are some places always hot?"

 Friday, August 30 We had an awesome first week of school, the time went by fast!  Some highlights from the past two days were: Time capsules: We have been writing a letter to our future selves to read at the end of grade 5 and grade 12.  Students have been including details about their summer, their interests and goals for this year. Shipwrecked: To build leadership and resiliency, we played a game called Shipwrecked.  Students in 5D worked as a team to cross from one side of the soccer field to the other by only standing on 10 sit upons.  The students moved almost halfway across the field without touching the grass!  It was amazing to hear all of the words of encouragement and strategy. Math and Literacy: We eased back into learning by playing math and literacy games.
