Week of October 8

Happy Thanksgiving!

* Reminders - No school on Monday for Thanksgiving

* The grade 5 teachers will be presenting at the Parent Council meeting on Wednesday at 6:00 along with Mrs White and the grade 4 teachers.  We would love to see you there!

* Please see the previous post about needing volunteers for the Casino Fundraiser this upcoming weekend.

We practiced reading, writing, and comparing numbers from the millions to the thousandths place value.  We will have a check-in this week.  We played decimal pickle to practice comparing and ordering decimals. See this link to learn how to play.

We worked on writing paragraphs with a clear topic and conclusion sentence about students' major life events.  Students will continue to work on this project in the upcoming week as well as incorporate an artistic representation of the event.

We practiced our map reading skills; following cardinal and intermediate directions, reading latitude and longitude, and reading the provinces and capital cities in Canada.  We will have a check-in this week on this topic.

In PE, students practiced their throwing and catching skills by playing Handball.

We had a special presentation about Nepali celebration, Dashain which was celebrated on Saturday!

For Field Study Friday, we walked to the St. Clare's field and played the Animal Game with the grade 5's.  Students saw the roles of the producers, consumers and decomposers in action.
