March 11 + Info about Science Fair
Homework - Just a reminder that students have an Ojibwe Star Story to complete for homework. Please bring the completed work back to school by Wednesday, March 12. The information is in the Google Classroom assignments. Students log into Google Classroom almost daily, so should be able to log in at home. Students need to make sure they type the e-mail end, "@educbe.ca".
SWYK - We will have a Show What you Know on Thursday, March 13 about the Reasons for the Seasons. Here is a Google Slide presentation to review the concept if needed.
Astrodome!
On Friday, our class will have the unique opportunity to engage with the AstroDome. The AstroDome is a portable, inflatable planetarium that brings the wonders of space right into our school! With a high-definition digital projection system, students will be fully immersed in a 360-degree view of the night sky, making them feel as if they are traveling through space.
This immersive program, students will explore:
Eclipses & Moon Phases – How and why they occur, demonstrated inside the planetarium.
The Aurora – A stunning natural light display explained with simulations and time-lapse videos.
Earth’s Rotation & Tilt – How the tilt of Earth’s axis creates the seasons.
Changing Daylight – How the Sun’s path shifts throughout the year, affecting sunrise, sunset, and daylight hours.
This engaging, hands-on experience will spark curiosity and wonder, giving students a unique perspective on astronomy—all from inside the AstroDome!
The cost of this in-school experience has been graciously funded by the NLS School Council and Parent Fundraising Society. There is NO cost for families
Science Fair
Students who chose to participate, will present their Science Fair projects on Tuesday, March 18 from 1:10 - 3:00. The Science Fair will be held in the Prairie and families are invited to come.
Students deepened their understanding of placing fractions on a number line with the Ozobots.
Quiz your family members and see if they can identify the Figurative Language in the songs we listened to. Write down any song lyrics you know if you find more similes, metaphors, hyperboles, alliteration or onomatopoeia.
