This week in science we worked on our stop motion explanation of the reasons for the seasons.
We activated our background information about fractions. We were introduced to mixed and improper fractions. This video will help explain the process. There is also a slide presentation in the Google Classroom to explain the process of converting mixed fractions to improper.
For Pink Shirt Day, students acknowledged each other to help complete a class Kindness Bingo. Students also made Kindness Matters posters to share around the school.
We read the book/poem The Undefeated by Kwame Alexander. Students then shared their interpretations of the meanings of "undefeated" and "perseverance."
This week in RESTART we discussed accountability. Students defined accountability and talked about what they are accountable for. We also talked about how being accountable is not about blame, but about taking responsibility for your own actions.
We also spoke about bullying and cyber bullying and how taking responsibility for your actions is important when you are aware that some one is being bullied or cyberbullied either at school or online. In group this week, we defined both terms as well as explored the impact bullying can have on a person. We discussed what bullying looks like, the legalities around bullying and steps that can be taken to help stop it.
We hope that your family will continue this conversation at home!
Ask your child about the drawing activity and the crumpled paper activity and what they meant.
