Please email mlbrinson@cbe.ab.ca if you are moving or if you are changing schools. This is only for siblings of grade 5 students. NO ACTION is needed on your part for your grade five child.


Body Systems

Students solidified their learning about the digestive body system by creating a stop motion simulating the journey of food.













Drum Fit!

Students created their own Drum Fit routine.  Some students even performed in front of the class.


In math we have been practicing converting between ration, fractions, decimals and percents.  This Uno game helped us to visualize the equivalent values.



We simulated the decision making process in Canada.  When there are many people trying to make a decision, students agreed that a representative is speaking on behalf of a group of students is the easiest way to agree on a choice.

 Friday, August 30 We had an awesome first week of school, the time went by fast!  Some highlights from the past two days were: Time capsules: We have been writing a letter to our future selves to read at the end of grade 5 and grade 12.  Students have been including details about their summer, their interests and goals for this year. Shipwrecked: To build leadership and resiliency, we played a game called Shipwrecked.  Students in 5D worked as a team to cross from one side of the soccer field to the other by only standing on 10 sit upons.  The students moved almost halfway across the field without touching the grass!  It was amazing to hear all of the words of encouragement and strategy. Math and Literacy: We eased back into learning by playing math and literacy games.
